E-Learning: COVID-19
Director, producer, and editor - Sherry Zhang
In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, education has been affected to a large degree.
Schools have been cancelled across the globe for students' and teachers' safety. To explore how technologies are used in education to maintain the quality of schooling under the situation of coronavirus and record people's real opinions towards this special way of learning, I conducted interviews with people from different cultural and educational backgrounds and created this documentary film. Interviews were conducted purely online.
This film is dedicated to this special time and all of us who went through the pandemic together.
Valedictorian Vendetta
Director, producer, and editor - Sherry Zhang
In this modern adaptation of Shakespeare's "Macbeth," the video portrays Coco, a top-ranked high school student, whose academic success breeds deadly jealousy among her peers. Echoing Macbeth's encounter with the illusory dagger, Coco is metaphorically drawn to her demise when her classmates, driven by envy, push her off a balcony.
This adaptation captures the essence of Macbeth's themes of ambition and moral decay, reflecting the dark consequences of the competitive drive in a high school setting. It serves as a powerful reminder of how the pursuit of superiority can corrupt and destroy, much like the tragic downfall of Shakespeare's infamous protagonist.
